U.S. Montgomery Land Office - abstract of unearned fees and other trust funds, 1903-1912.

District land office Receivers were responsible for all financial transactions relating to the sale and disposition of public lands. Settlers were required to pay fees and commissions to the Receiver for performing various duties relating to land sales. This series consists of a register of "unearned fees and other trust funds." Each entry contains the date, the receipt number, the purchaser's name and address, type of fees received (e.g., cancellation, homestead application final proof, timber deposit), and amount received. The information found in this series is similar to that's found in other Montgomery Land Office series: detailed monthly statements of unearned fees and unofficial monies, 1895-1908; and detailed account of fees received, 1903-1908. These records document the financial aspects of public land sales and illustrate the complex duties of district land office Receivers.
